Dr. Goodman earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (D.D.S.) in the United States with additional post-graduate training from UCLA & USC.

Joseph Goodman, DDS, DMD was one of the first cosmetic dentists in Germany to use porcelain veneers starting in the early 1990s. At that time, porcelain veneers were not as commonly used, due to limitations in adhesion and available materials. Colleagues at the time dismissed Dr. Goodman's efforts to achieve dental excellence using porcelain veneers as unrealistic, short-term, and unpredictable. Dental experts just 20 years ago shrugged off the use of porcelain veneers, but they failed to realize the full potential of porcelain veneers. Most of the porcelain veneers designed and cemented by Dr. Goodman 20 years ago are still serving patients well. Some of them have been replaced, of course, but generally only because of changes in shading preferences over time. The new white today (Shade OM3, Vita Co.) did not exist back then.
