Invisalign / Retainers: active and passive

Whenever your teeth are crowded, misaligned, crocked, twisted, and spaced you need some sort of braces. The simplest form is a removable retainer. A passive retainer is when the treatment is done to prevent relapse. It does not move teeth rather keep them in the final position after braces or Invisalign is completed.

An active retainer is a removable device, which moves single teeth. It has limited indication but it works well if you like to push in your front teeth in for example, close gaps, ease crowed teeth etc. It can be removed by you but should be worn as long as possible. I have done hundreds of retainers with great success at a very moderate fee.

Traditional Braces

With traditional braces you have a fixed appliance with wires attached to your teeth. While not very esthetically pleasing it gets the job done very effectively if done by an experienced dentist. Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You simply pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete and you achieve the confident smile that you've always wanted.
