Holistic Dentistry
Holistic Dentistry
I consider myself as a mainstream dentist with a holistic approach. What that means for you is that I give you options; I will discuss with you all the alternatives and the benefits from each procedure. I will also never use mercury, as I believe personally that it should not be in your body, food, and teeth. There are many no metal alternatives and I know all of them. There is no need to have nickel, chrome, steel or lesser valued gold (semi- or non precious gold) in your mouth. There are tremendous amounts of possibilities and combinations possible and as your dentist, I pledge to keep myself updated and informed to the newest advancements in modern dentistry.
Holistic dentistry implies that we work with the whole body. In Holistic dentistry, it combines working with your overall health and dental knowledge. Holistic dentistry, according to the dentist's belief, recognizes the body as a beautiful integrated system with each entity connected interdependently to the other systems. As "parts of the body", each part is necessary and interdependent on the other parts doing their "job". There is a biblical concept in that we are all part of the "body" and we each have our own specific "job" or mission to do in life. If we each were to do "our part", the "body"/world would function properly.
Amazing isn't it.
Even mainstream dentistry is more and more realizing that there is a connection between your teeth and your entire body :
Periodontal disease forexample has an impact on your heart and must be treated in its early stages.
So what do we do differently than most dentists ?
1) NEVER place amalgam fillings, as they contain over 50 % mercury.
2) Most people, especially ladies might know this from their reaction towards designer jewelry, have a allergy towards nickel and many dental alloys contain nickel, so we leave them out.
3) Match each person to the proper materials.
4) Removing old fillings have been proven to be releasing more mercury than during their many years of service in your mouth.

So to remove them and other toxic materials, I use a special isolating dam which seals the entire oral cavity and only leaves the tooth to be treated outside the dam to be worked at. What that means for you is that the mercury will not be swallowed and the assistant will use her two powerful suction tools to suction all saliva and dental materials.
Keep in mind that European dental studies have found significant higher amounts of mercury in saliva after you eat and especially after you eat hot meals. Some studies suggest that hot food releases mercury in your mouth. In Germany , where I practiced for many years, amalgam is not allowed on pregnant women and children under 9 years old. Although nobody of my dental colleagues made a connection when I left dental school in 1996, I was always the only one who always intuitively asked myself" what is not good for a pregnant women can not be good for a grown adult as well". And that is how I became more interested after dental school and invested time in learning about alternative ways.
5) We use a safe environment for the removal process and we refer to other doctors and practitioners who share the same philosophies.
We strive to make your experience here in our office a pleasant and positive one beginning from the 1st visit which is usually a cleaning/ prophylaxis combined with an initial consultation and examination visit, to the dental treatment itself.
During this visit you have time to ask your questions and discuss with me what is best for you. Of course you can also have a consultation by itself, where everything will discussed. The first consultation is free, we charge however for the 2nd one.
Another aspect to our "holistic" approach involves those of you who already have some immune system compromise. This would include (but not be limited to) those of you with chronic fatigue, fibromalgia, multiple sclerosis and a variety of other immune systems symptoms. There is a specific protocol from Dr. Hal Huggins that we recommend to follow for the "full mouth restoration" that helps in not further compromising your immune system. If this protocol is not followed, more harm to the immune system can be done by removing amalgam/mercury fillings and nickel crowns.
Our modern world makes it very difficult for us to shield us from the negative factors which can contribute to the overall health. There are many factors that have an impact on our immune system : Heavy metal toxification, stress, electrical interferences all around us, your state of mind , allergies, toxic chemicals and nutritional deficiencies.
Nobody can live a perfect life, but do the best you can shield yourself from these negative factors.

Special Abilities/High Tech Dentistry
Special Abilities/High Tech Dentistry
By having been educated at one of Europe's top dental schools and having participated in post doctoral programs at UCLA and USC I supply knowledge of special treatment approaches used in both, Europe as well as in the US.
This combined background enables me to treat you in the best and most professional manner possible. Moreover, I speak several languages: German, Hebrew, French, besides English naturally.
We use the following High Tech Tools:
1) Video monitor built in a digital pair of glasses Watch your favorite DVD movie with surround sound while you are getting dental work done. This is an incredible tool, which enables you to relax and be in another world while I work on your teeth.
2) Intra-Oral Camera The intra-Oral camera allows you to see your teeth on a plasma TV. Would you like to see why your tooth has cracked or chipped? How does your old silver filling look like? Watch the camera walking through your mouth and watch clear video pictures. Understand the dental conditions in the mouth.
3) Drill-less Dentistry Air abrasion, laser dentistry and electro surgery are the names of the new dental technologies. "Drill free cavity preparation" such as air abrasion gives the dentist the ability to remove cavities without the use of traditional drilling instruments (dental handpieces) .Therefore the noise of the conventional dental handpiece is eliminated and the dentist can remove small cavities without having to give an injection! It uses micro particles with compressed airnd abrades away the decay in a "pain free" and "noise free" environment.
4) Electric Handpieces Electric Handpieces versus air driven handpieces have a much higher torque and power, therefore allowing cutting the tooth much more precisely and faster and cleaner. Crowns fit better, require very little if any adjustment at the seat appointment. Electric handpieces are used in europe since 1960 and just got introduced to the American market in 2000.
5) Laser Cavity Detector This is the newest technology from Germany in the detection of cavities. A Laser beam analyses your tooth density and detects cavities at their earliest stage. Where X rays have their limitations, this tool is helping the dentist to diagnose to perfection.
6) Magnification I use a special pair of high magnification loops (glasses) that enables me to perform perfect, precise and accurate work. When working with precision loops, even the slightest inaccuracy becomes visible, making the fit of crowns and bridges superior. |
