Bone Graft Dentistry

When placing an implant it is possible that at times there is not sufficient bone available. The next picture shows a large bony defect after placement of an implant. This is also referred to as dehiscence. This bony defect weakens the stability of the implant, should it be left untreated.

In this case I have decided to place some human bone graft to mask the defect. The idea is that bone from a cadaver will be placed into the surgical site and once it comes in contact with the patients DNA (blood), it will transform into the patients own bone. The implant and the bone will then heal at the same time in one surgical procedure!
